Boston Pride has announced that they will be canceling all virtual Pride events in the month of June, in order to fully support the Black and Brown community.

In a press release, the Boston Pride Board wrote that the events that have occurred over the last week has really impacted the organization and they have acknowledged that they need to do more as a social justice organization. “[we] need to take substantive action to better address racism and white privilege within Boston Pride, the LGBTQ+ community and society at large.”

In effort to do so, the organization will be supporting organizations that serve communities of color.

Boston Pride events are usually run during the month of June. This year would have been the 50th anniversary of both the parade and festival, however, was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The events will be postponed until June of 2021 and in its place were to be virtual events.
