According to a recent model, Massachusetts is currently on track to exceed international standards when it comes to COVID-19 preparedness.
In fact, for the first time since March, the state’s Department of Public Health reported no new COVID-19 deaths today. In addition to Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey are also on track to containing the virus. These states were some of the hardest hit when at the peak of the virus.
In order to further combat the virus, today, Governor Baker stated that visitors from outside certain northeast states are told to self-quarantine upon arrival in Massachusetts.
Visitors from the following states are excluded: Rhode Island, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, New York, and New Jersey. However, essential workers are clear if they’re traveling to M.A. for work.
The state is still in Phase 2 of the reopening plan. As of last week, restaurants are now able to offer indoor dining to customers once again. However, other parts of the country are beginning to flare-up. In fact, top health officials warned that cases could grow by 100,000 a day in the U.S. unless citizens start following public health recommendations.
