Ditch the gym membership this summer and take advantage of all the great free fitness opportunities in and around Boston for Summer 2016.
Below are all the free fitness classes and programs that you can take advantage of this summer in Boston:
Summer Yoga at Frog Pond: Free yoga classes on the lawn adjacent to the Frog Pond Carousel at 6:00pm every Thursday night this summer from June 2, 2016 to August 25, 2016. Please bring your own mat and blocks if you can.
Yoga at Assembly Row: Free yoga classes at Assembly Row in Somerville from May to September on Saturdays at 9am. Registration is required, and bring your own mat.
MSL Pilates Summer Bootcamp: Free MSL Pilates Summer Bootcamp twice in June on Monday night from 6:30pm-7:15pm on the Rose F. Kennedy Greenway. June 13 & June 27, 2016. Please RSVP and bring your own mat.
Free Salsa in the Park: Enjoy free salsa dancing this summer at the Blackstone Community Center (50 West Brookline Street) starting June 6, 2016 from 6-9pm.
Yoga in the Park: Free Yoga on Saturdays at Blackstone Square Park (1525 Washington Street) from 11am to 12pm starting June 11, 2016 to July 23, 2016 (no class July 2). Bring your own mat, towel or blanket.
Island Yoga at Spectacle Island: Enjoy a gentle yoga class on Saturdays from June 18, 2016 to September 3, 2016. Classes are free (just bring a mat or towel) but you do need to pay for ferry fares to Spectacle Island. Highly recommended to RSVP.
Healthy Fit and Fun from the Esplanade Association: The Esplanade Association partners with organizations across the city to bring free fitness and fun starting July 12, 2016. Registration is required. Here’s the schedule:
- Free Zumba: Tuesdays at 6pm at the Hatch Shell. Sponsored by Healthworks.
- Sunset Yoga: Wednesdays at 6pm at the Fielder Field (must bring a mat)
- Run Club: Wednesdays at 6:30pm at 671 Boylston Street.
- CrossFit: Thursdays at 6pm at Fielder Field.
Donation Yoga: Branching Out Yoga offers donation yoga the first and third Sunday of the month at Arnold Arboretum (near Dawson Pond) from 9-10am.
Equinox Summer Yoga: Free Yoga at the Liberty Hotel at 10am on Saturdays
November Project: Work out with a positive support group every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for free workouts through the November Project.

Keep in mind that some classes may cancel due to rain and some may happen rain or shine, so do your own due-diligence before heading out to any of these free classes. You may also need to bring a yoga mat to a few.
