Arrive safely at your destination this New Year’s with some special offers from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation and Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority.
If you are doing the driving on New Year’s Eve, some free coffee will help you stay alert while on the road. More than a dozen MassDOT service plazas will be serving free coffee from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. late tonight and early New Year’s Day. Some of the locations serving up free coffee include plazas on the Massachusetts Turnpike, Route 3 in Plymouth, Route 128, Interstate 95, Route 24, and Route 6 in Barnstable. Free coffee will be courtesy of McDonald’s, Burger King, and Gulf.
Also, if you are taking the MBTA tonight instead, no tolls will be collected tonight after 8 p.m. until the end of service Wednesday morning, so you can ride the T for free on NYE! Additional late-night service will be available throughout NYE with trains running at rush-hour levels of service from 3 pm until 2 am.
Please note that many public transportation services will have modified schedules throughout New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, so make sure you check service schedules online and plan accordingly.
Whatever you’re doing this New Year’s Eve in Boston, drive sober and arrive safely! Have a very happy and safe New Year’s Eve!
