While this Fourth of July may feel different than those of the past, a military flyover will be planned in Boston to celebrate cities that were involved in the American Revolution.
An official press release from the Department of Defense was released last week stating that aerial flyover celebrations will salute the “Great Cities of the American Revolution.”
Flyovers will start in Boston, then will head to New York City, Philadelphia, and Baltimore, respectively. Approximately 1700 service members will take part in the celebrations. Once in Baltimore, they will join other aircraft to salute over Washington D.C.
“The DOD is proud to help celebrate the nation’s 244th birthday. We are grateful for our nation’s support as we defend our country, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year,” the press release stated.
Keep your eyes peeled for more information this week, as the timing for the flyovers is still being determined. This will be another exciting flyover for the city of Boston this year. Just a few months prior, the Blue Angels flew over the city to show respect for healthcare workers.

When she's not working for a large advertising agency in the city, you can find her running along the Charles, at a local arts market, practicing her right hook at her neighborhood boxing gym, or seeing as many concerts as she can. But don't blink or you could miss her.
