Cheap Weekend Events in BostonThere’s a lot of fun and affordable things to do this weekend in Boston for Columbus Day weekend. Here’s some ideas just in case you will be in the Boston area for the long weekend!

If you are taking the T on Saturday, the MBTA Red Line will have bus service between Park and Kendall/MIT all day, so something to keep in mind.

Opening Our Doors: Monday, October 13, 2014 from 10am-4pm: Enjoy a day of free cultural experiences with a lot of museums opening their doors for free like the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, MFA, The Mary Baker Eddy Library, and much more!

Harvard Square’s 36th Annual Oktoberfest: Sunday, October 12, 2014 from 12-6pm. Enjoy food from all over the world, crafts, vintage goods, music, dancing, and more!

Honk! Festival: October 10-12, 2014. Enjoy a festival of activist street bands with a lot of free music and fun!

Street Performer Fall Festival: October 11-13, 2014 from 11am to 7pm at Faneuil Hall. Enjoy street performers from all over at this fall street performer festival!

Boston Fitness Launch: October 11, 2014 from 10am-12pm at Boston Common. Enjoy a morning of free fitness, demos, giveaways and more! (Thanks Keriann!)

Columbus Day Parade: Sunday, October 12, 2014 in East Boston. Celebrate Columbus Day weekend with the Columbus Day parade!

Annual Christopher Columbus Day Celebration: Monday, October 13, 2014 at Christopher Columbus Park in Boston. Celebrate Christopher Columbus Day at Christopher Columbus Park with many free activities and fun!

Haunted Happenings in Salem: Fun events daily in Salem, MA. Salem has a lot of haunted happenings this October including a free movie night sponsored by Radio 92.9 every Saturday night. This week’s free movie night under the stars is Hocus Pocus.

Chocotoberfest at Taza Chocolate: Every Saturday in October from 1-4pm at Taza Chocolate in Somerville. Celebrate fall with a tasting of goodies! Free to attend.

    Maybe we missed it—-Could you PLEASE offer us a COMPREHENSIVE List of ALL things Halloween??

    Which includes: Haunted Corn Mazes/Haunted Houses/Zombie Paintball, Parties, etc…. Spooky World? Fright Kingdom? Anything in MA or New Hampshire within about an 1 Hours drive from Boston/Cambridge.

    One of us has a Halloween birthday—what would you suggest she do for her birthday?
