Cheap Weekend Events in Boston

Here’s some fun and cheap things to do in the Greater Boston area for the first full weekend in March! Hope you have a great weekend whatever you decide to do!

Chinese New Year in Harvard Square: Sunday, March 8, 2015 from 1-3pm in Harvard Square. Celebrate the year of the goat in Harvard Square with a lion dance, arts and crafts, and more.

Open Doors Grand Re-Opening Event: Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Open Doors Yoga Studio in Westwood. Celebrate new ownership with free yoga and workshops all day.

245th Anniversary of the Boston Massacre: Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the Old State House in Boston. Commemorate and Reenact the Boston Massacre on March 7th with various activities.

Winter Wellness Walks: Sunday, March 8, 2015 at the Arnold Arboretum from 1-1:45pm. Take a brisk walk this winter at the Arboretum with a healthy dose of info from a tour guide. Free and geared towards adults.

Bank of America’s Museum on Us: Saturday and Sunday, March 7-8, 2015. Bank of America & Merrill Lynch cardholders can get into select museums the first weekend of every month for free by showing their bank card (per cardholder, not family). Museum of Fine Arts, MIT Museum and other museums across the state participate.

Harvard Art Museums: Massachusetts residents are admitted free every Saturday morning from 10am to Noon year-round with proof of residency

Harvard Museum of Natural History: Massachusetts residents are admitted free every Sunday morning from 9am to Noon year-round with proof of residency.

Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology: Massachusetts residents are admitted free every Sunday morning from 9am to Noon year-round with proof of residency

Free Women’s Self Defense Class: Every Saturday from 10-11am in Charlestown. Krav Maga Yashir Boston provides free self-defense training to women living in Massachusetts on Saturday mornings.

If you are a resident of Newton, you may be interested in Community Weekend where you can get free admission into Historic Newton Museums with your Newton residency.
