Okay, I’m going to be spicing it up a little bit here on the blog… just a tiny bit. The Cheap Weekend Fun that is typically posted on Fridays will now happen on Thursdays to give you (and me) an extra day to plan some weekend fun! Here’s some of the free and cheap weekend events in Boston and beyond for the first full weekend in September:
Celebrate Boston Charter Day: Saturday, September 7, 2013. Commemorate the naming of Boston, Dorchester, and Watertown and discover the lost history of pre-revolutionary Boston! Admission to the Old South Meeting House will be free all day (for Mass residents) as well as the Boston Founders Trail Walking Tour will host a free two-hour tour at 5pm. RSVP here for Boston Founders Trail.
Bank of America’s Museum on Us Weekend: Saturday and Sunday, September 7-8, 2013. Bank of America & Merrill Lynch cardholders can get into select museums the first weekend of every month for free by showing their bank card (per cardholder, not family). Museum of Fine Arts, MIT Museum and other museums across the state participate.
One Heart Festival Appreciation Day: Saturday, September 7, 2013 from 2-7pm at Lorenz Island Kuisine in Dorchester. The annual One Heart Festival that celebrates peace and unity will not happen this year; however, there will be an appreciation event in its place. Free treats will be given out from 2-5pm, as well as 10% off menu items all day.
JP Music Festival: Saturday, September 7, 2013 from 12-7pm at Pinebank Field in JP. A music festival where at least one band member lives or works in Jamaica Plain. Free and open to the public.
Cambridge Carnival International: Sunday, September 8, 2013 in Cambridge. Celebrate Cambridge’s diversity, enjoy international foods and crafts and much more at this annual celebration! Free admission.
PemberFest at Pemberton Farms: Saturday, September 7, 2013 from 2-5pm at Pemberton Farms in Cambridge. Love craft beer? Well check out this Hyper Local Craft Beer Festival from many different breweries! Free.
College Day at Fenway: Saturday, September 7, 2013 from 11-5pm at Fenway Park Gate B. College Students bring your current college ID to Fenway on Saturday and grab some free swag and more! Free with ID.
Enjoy! Let me know in the comments if I missed any awesome and inexpensive events happening this weekend and I’ll try to add them!
