Cheap Weekend Fun

Here’s a few fun and inexpensive things to do this weekend in the Greater Boston Area before the craziness of the holidays are upon us! I will diligently be painting my house (exciting I know), but hopefully you can have some fun for me:

Faneuil Hall Tree Lighting Festival: Saturday, November 23, 2013. The tree lighting ceremony will live air at 7:30pm on Saturday but catch the excitement in person with special performances by Tanglewood Festival Chorus conducted by Keith Lockhart as well as performances by Paula Cole and The Sugarbabies Band. The lighting will include more than 30,000 lights and strobes on the 80-foot tree and 350,000 lights as part of Blink! which kicks off that evening too. Free.

JFK National Historic Site National Day of Mourning: November 23-24, 2013 at the JFK Historic Site in Brookline. The John Fitzgerald Kennedy National Historic Site is recognizing the 50th Anniversary of the 1963 Day of Mourning. The Historic site will be open on Saturday and Sunday for free admission. Free ranger tours will be available on Saturday and self-guided tours are available on Sunday. A brief memorial will be held on Sunday, 11/24 at 2pm. Free.

Apotheker’s Chocolate Tasting: Saturday, November 23, 2013 from 12-4pm at Olives & Grace. Stop by Olives & Grace on Saturday for free chocolate samples of a new chocolate company! Free.

Enchanted Village: November 16, 2013-January 5, 2013 at Jordan’s Furniture in Avon. The Enchanted Village is up and running for the season and Santa is sticking around the Village starting on Saturday. Free.

MIT Museum: Sunday, November 24, 2013. The MIT Museum is free the last Sunday of every month during the academic year.

ICA: Saturday, November 23, 2013. The ICA is free for families the last Saturday of every month, except December, so stop by and enjoy contemporary art! ahead of myself— still one Saturday left in November! Sorry about that.

Hope you have a great weekend. And as always, leave a comment if I missed any fun and cheap weekend fun in Boston or beyond happening this weekend!
