Boston Common Tree Lighting Ceremony at Boston Common

Bring the whole family out to the Boston Common Tree Lighting Ceremony to kick off the winter season! Join The Skating Club of Boston at The Boston Common Frog Pond for a free figure skating show on ice. You’ll watch the best national and international competitive figure skaters, as well as soloists, groups, Team Excel Synchronized Skating, and Theatre On Ice of Boston teams! Don’t miss this extraordinary free event perfect for all ages.

After the ice skating show, Mayor Marty Walsh will present The Boston Common Tree Lighting Ceremony to the community. This tree is a traditional gift from the province of Nova Scotia since 1917. You’ll also see Santa in addition to members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Enjoy music, warm refreshments, and lots of entertainment throughout the evening. The tree lights will go on just before 8:00 pm, and then the lights of all the other spectacular trees will follow throughout the Common and the Public Garden.
