Happy New Year! Thanks for discovering and reading Boston on Budget for the second half of 2012! I started Boston on Budget in the summer of 2012 with the hopes of saving money on wicked fun things to do in Boston & Beyond, and hoping that I could share my finds and interests with other locals and travelers as well.

I think 2012 was a great year for me. I bought my first home in Massachusetts, earned my Masters a week or so ago, and, oh, started Boston on Budget after my dream trip to Italy for a belated honeymoon! I can’t wait to see what 2013 will bring!

I will (hopefully) be a little less busy in 2013 since I will no longer have grad work (whew), so I’m hoping to post even more deals and savings to Boston on Budget! I am hoping to add ski deals in addition to updating the Boston college discounts and always cheap eats tab so look for that in January 2013.

I also am thinking of adding more daily deals, like a daily or weekly round-up of the best daily deals. I have been going back-and-forth with that addition for awhile. Daily deals can be a great way to save money, but at the same time, if you don’t redeem your voucher, it isn’t.

Let me know what you would like to see on Boston on Budget in 2013 by contacting me directly or leaving a comment below! Cheers to a wicked awesome 2013!!!

F*ck New Years Party at Bukowski Tavern! Get a buck cover!

Wait, is it New Year’s Eve tonight or something?! From First Night Boston, to free MBTA rides after 8pm with extended hours until 2pm, there is no doubt a lot happening in Boston to welcome 2013!

However, one of my favorite New Year’s Eve promotions is from Bukowski Tavern. At their Cambridge location, they describe their Fuck New Years event as “no hats, no noise-makers or any of that shit. No cover! In fact we do an “uncover” charge; we give you a buck just to come in! PBR Toast sometime around midnight, if the staff is sober enough to remember!”

Both the Cambridge and Dalton Street location will give you a buck for stopping in after 8pm. So if you would like to forget the celebration and day altogether, stop into Bukowski’s tonight.

Hat tip to Cheap Thrills Boston!

Score Cheap Seats with ScoreBig Promo Code! *Possibly Free Tickets*

scorebigpromocode

Okay, if you are a fan of discount ticket site, ScoreBig, you may want to jot this promo code down. ScoreBig is offering $20 off any ticket purchase with promo code SAVE20! I don’t know when this promo code expires, but it is currently working now.

I tried playing around with the promo code to see what I could get for free for an event in Boston I would actually go too. I wasn’t able to score free Celtics tickets (boo), but I could probably get them for cheap. ScoreBig works kind of like Priceline, and if you bid too low for tickets, you can’t try again for that date and ticket grade for another 24 hours.

The picture above is my computer screen checking out tickets for the Boston College Eagles Basketball team in January. I didn’t continue to see if my bid worked, but it looks like I had a good chace of scoring two free tickets to the game, if I wanted to go.

You do need to place your credit card down with every bid, even if your total says $0 after the promo code is entered. You will not be charged if your bid doesn’t go through.

Thanks, Free Stuff Times!
