Money Making Monday: Earn Money Through Freelance Sites

MoneyMakingMonday

Every Monday until the holidays I am going to post simple ways to earn a little extra side money online. None of these suggestions will make you rich, but will hopefully help with the extra expenses that come up during the holiday season. All Money Making ideas are different things that I actively use or have used in the past to make extra money, and all that I personally recommend (and are really easy too).

This week on Money Making Mondays, I will be sharing a great way to make money through freelance projects online. There are many different ways to make money online and offline through freelance projects from dog walking, graphic design work, writing, and much more. It can be easier if you know someone who needs work done, but it’s not always possible.

Freelance Websites

One website that I have used in the past to find freelance work is elance.com. Elance connects businesses to freelancers for many different freelance projects. I used Elance to pick up some side projects and bring in some extra income. Elance has a large amount of job listings from so many categories. Since there are so many job listings, there are also so many freelancers on the website from all over world. I must say Elance can be very competitive, especially in general administrative jobs since they are typically easy and entry jobs.

If you are or try Elance to find freelance jobs, my tip is to find jobs that you can stand out from the crowd whether it is a specific skill, location, experience, or more. This is especially true when you are trying to find your first job since you are still trying to create a profile and be viewed as a solid hire.

Elance can definitely be competitive but can be a great way to get a few side jobs and make some extra money. You can upgrade for a better account and more job connects, but I found the free profile to be just fine. If you are referred by a friend (like me) you will receive 10 connects to get started. A connect will give you an opportunity to place a bid and the hiring person can view your account to see if you are a good fit for the project.

For more information or to sign-up with Elance with 10 connects in your account, please head here.

There are also other freelance websites but I haven’t personally tried them out yet. I have bought something from Fiverr, which people sell services for $5, but I haven’t made money through the website. Have you used Elance or another freelance website?
