Fridays this summer in Boston are the place to be! There are so many great & free events happening that I wanted to share. The Highland Street Foundation is sponsoring Free Fun Fridays throughout Massachusetts until the end of August. Each week I will remind you of the free events happening throughout the state, but if you want to plan ahead or want further information, please go here.
Free attractions for this Friday, July 13, 2012 are:
- Franklin Park Zoo
- Children’s Museum at Holyoke
- Danforth Museum of Art
- deCordova Sculpture Park
- Museum Reagle Music Theatre: Bye Bye Birdie at 2pm *no children under 5*
In addition, to these free Friday events, WBZ and DCR are sponsoring free Friday flicks at the Hatch Shell on the Esplanade. A movie will be shown after sunset (usually around 8:30 or so), but games and fun starts at 6pm. For the full schedule and for more information, please go here.
This week’s movie is Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.
If Journey 2 does not interest you, Boston Harbor Hotel at Rowes Wharf is offering a similar movie series just with classic favorites. This Friday is An American in Paris and the showing starts after sunset as well! For more information, please visit the Boston Harbor Hotel’s wesbite here.
In addition, to these Friday events, the Parks Department is hosting free fishing fridays at Jamaica Pond for the month of July from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. No license is required for children under 15, but everyone else must have a fishing license. For more about this program, please go here.
