The Globe Happy Hour

Every Friday, I feature a fun and budget-friendly option in the Greater Boston area. The “Feature Friday” is typically mentioned on the Cheap Eats list, Free Things to Do in Boston, or Discount Attractions. However, there’s so much budget-friendly ideas on my pages, I thought it would be fun to feature something budget-friendly and different each week. Also, each Feature Friday is something I have personal experience with or took advantage of recently! Enjoy!

Happy hour type food deals can be a great way to save money (traditional Happy Hours are illegal in Mass if you are new here). However, sometimes it can be difficult to make a happy hour before it ends at 5pm, 6pm, or whenever.

On Friday night, I wanted to stick to my budget ($30 or less) but still have a fun dinner out. However, I needed to eat past 7pm when most deals are over.

Luckily, Globe Bar and Café at 585 Boylston Street in the Back Bay has bar bites from 5-8pm Monday-Friday for $3.95 for dine-in.

My husband ordered waffle fries and buffalo chicken sliders for $3.95 respectively (seen in picture above) and the portion was really generous for each.

“Uhh, I don’t think the deal worked Kate. This is a lot of food. Did we have to sit at the bar?” My husband was filled with all sorts of questions and complaints before our check came. The deal indeed worked, and we left full and under budget!

(We also didn’t have to sit in the bar to get this food deal, so I’m wondering if this would work on the outdoor patio in the summer?) Update: Yes, also works on the patio! Nice!

There are more appetizer and side items on Globe’s bar bites menu, but you can still find a few items that could work for a meal, especially if you don’t mind buffalo sauce.

As always, you can view the Cheap Eats page to view even more food and specials, happy hour deals, and more in Boston, Cambridge, and beyond.
