Cheap Weekend Fun

There’s a lot happening this weekend: Good Friday, Easter, Patriot’s Day, The Boston Marathon, and then the start of April Vacation. There’s a good chance you may have more than just two days off this weekend. I did include Monday in this round-up, but if you are looking for additional ideas for April Vacation week, check out this post here.

118th Boston Marathon: Monday, April 21, 2014 from Hopkinton to Boston. Cheer on the runners of the 118th Annual Boston Marathon.

To Boston With Love: Free Community Day at the Museum of Fine Arts: Saturday, April 19, 2014 from 10am to 4:45pm. Admission is free at the MFA all day on Saturday to enjoy a day of art.

Comfort Dogs Return: April 17-21, 2014 at the First Lutheran Church of Boston on Berkeley Street. Comfort dogs will offer a calming presence to anyone who wants to stop by the First Lutheran Church during certain time periods.

Swan Boats Return: April 19, 2014 starting at 10am at Public Garden. The swan boats return for the season which means that spring (and summer?) is the air!

Hop into Spring Weekend at Faneuil Hall: April 19-20, 2014 at Faneuil Hall Marketplace. Between an Easter Egg Hunt, Free Concert, Sidewalk sale, and much more Faneuil Hall is busy this weekend with a lot of free fun!

Free Entrance Day at National Parks: April 19-20, 2014. It is opening week for National Parks across the country, and all national parks have free admission this weekend!

Harvard Museum of Natural History: Massachusetts residents are admitted free every Sunday morning from 9am to Noon year-round with proof of residency.

Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology: Massachusetts residents are admitted free every Sunday morning from 9am to Noon year-round with proof of residency

Free Boston CrossFit: Saturday, April 19, 2014 from 12-1pm. Every Saturday enjoy free (indoor) CrossFit class in the Back Bay.

If you are looking for Patriot’s Day Reenactments and events, there’s a great list here.

Meters are free on Monday due to Patriot’s Day; however, keep in mind that there will be parking and security restrictions for the Marathon.

I hope you have a great weekend and have an extra long weekend at that! If I missed any free or cheap events happening this weekend in or around Boston, feel free to leave them in the comments!
