Special $10 Weekend Commuter Rail Pass Available This Summer!

MBTA Commuter Rail

The MBTA announced yesterday a summer pilot program with a $10 summer weekend fare aboard the commuter rail for unlimited travel. The pass would be available for travel through all zones, except CapeFlyer, beginning June 9, 2018 to September 2, 2018.

The $10 weekend fare will be valid for all Commuter Rail zones on both Saturdays and Sundays. The $10 fare will be available on mTicket, onboard trains, and ticket windows at North, South, and Back Bay Stations.

The pass applies to customers 12 and above and paying adults can bring two children under 12 for free.

Some commuter rail fares are over $10 for one way, so this pays for itself in less than one trip!

This is a great deal and a cheap and easy way to get into or out of the city, depending on where you live.

For more information about this weekend pilot program, please head here.

Will you get this summer commuter rail pass? Do you love this idea?

Ways to Save at Story Land in New Hampshire

Storyland NH Discount Tickets

Story Land is located in Glen, New Hampshire, approximately 3 hours North of Boston and is a great day trip or weekend getaway when you have young children.

My kids will be 1 and 3 this summer, and Story Land is on our summer bucket list and I’ve been keeping an eye out for deals since ticket prices can add up quickly for a family.

A full-price day ticket to Story Land is $34.99 at the gate for ages 3+. Children under 3 are free. Parking is free. You can save $4 on admission tickets if you buy online in advance for $30.99 (+ service fee) and the ticket is good for any day of the 2018 operating season.

If you buy your full admission Story Land ticket during the last 3 hours of any day, you will receive a free pass to come back the next day or another day in the current season. The park closes at 6PM in July & August and 5PM on all other operating days.

There are also a few Smart Day tickets available directly through Story Land for $26.99 and for online purchase only. The 2018 Story Land Smart Days are July 4th, August 5th, August 29th, September 16th and September 30th.

If you are visiting for multiple days, you could buy a two day flex ticket for $54.99 which is valid for any two days during the 2018 season. A basic season pass is $69.99 per person and a premium season pass is $89.99 if you are looking for longer or multiple visits.

In late Fall last year, Story Land offered a free preschool play pass for ages 3-5 to sign up for, which I forgot to do, as well as discount tickets for season passes, which I also didn’t do. If you are looking for future deals beyond the 2018 operating season, late Fall seems to be a sweet spot for Story Land deals for future visits.

Luckily, there are a few discounts and deals for Story Land currently available through various companies.

*Please note that this post does contain some affiliate links and I receive a small commission to help maintain this site if you take advantage of any of these deals. I am not affiliated with Story Land to write this post– just a future visitor who wants to save some money and help fellow parents with my research. Thank you!

Goldstar currently has discount tickets to Story Land. I rarely see discounts for Story Land in general and this is the first time I’ve seen Story Land discounts on Goldstar so I’m not sure if they will be available to purchase all summer long or for a limited time only, so you may want to buy them soon if you are interested.

The discount tickets to Story Land are $26.99 + service fee through Goldstar and they can be used any operational day from May 26, 2018 to October 8, 2018.

One thing to note is there is a $4 service fee per ticket through Goldstar, which makes it $30.99 per ticket, and the same amount as the online offer directly through Story Land. I was super sad when I did the math at first BUT Story Land also charges a processing fee so Goldstar does appear to be the cheaper option after fees are accounted for. It looks like Story Land charges a processing fee of $3 per ticket with a max processing fee of $9.99.

Groupon also has discount tickets to Story Land available for $32.99 per ticket, and you can buy up to ten tickets. This isn’t really a good deal (in my opinion) unless the Goldstar option isn’t an option and you are buying 4 or less tickets. It ends up being more expensive than the online offer directly through Story Land if you are buying tickets for more than four people. Promo codes do not appear to work with the Groupon offer.

If you have an AAA membership, the Storyland AAA discount is $1 off at the gate. MTA members can also save on Story Land’s Final Three, Next Day Free program and is valid online only.

There are a few other discounts available directly through Story Land on particular days this summer, and you can find the full schedule for discounts here.

If you are planning to stay for the weekend, some hotels may offer some discounts and coupons to Story Land, so make sure to look to see if nearby hotels offer anything comparable or better than the deals listed above.

For visit the Story Land’s website or to purchase tickets directly through them, please head here. If you are looking to buy discount tickets through Goldstar, please head here.

Do you know of any promo codes, coupons, or discounts to Story Land in New Hampshire that I may have missed? Have you been to Story Land before? Any tips to share to a first timer like me?
