Free Weekend Events in Boston

This is it! The final days of 2016!

This cheap weekend post falls on New Years Eve and New Years Day… so here’s a few ways to spend the two holidays on a budget if you are looking for ideas.

Don’t forget, the MBTA is free after 8pm on NYE in Boston with a slightly different schedule as well.

First Night First Day: December 31, 2016 to January 1, 2017. Kick off 2017 with this annual tradition with free fun and activities ranging from music, ice sculptures, frog pond ice skating show, fireworks and much more! For the complete schedule, please head here.

Blink! Dance Party with Mix 104.1: Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Faneuil Hall from 2:30-4:30pm. Enjoy a fun afternoon of music from Mix 104.1 and enjoy Blink! the light and sound show that kicks off at 4:30pm.

F*ck New Years Party: December 31, 2016 at Bukowski Tavern in Boston. If you don’t feel like getting fancy or overpaying at the door, head to Bukowski Tavern for their annual not-so NYE party.

First Day Hike: Sunday, January 1, 2017. On New Years Day, America’s State Parks are offering free, guided first day hike programs including a few parks in Boston, Milton, and Hull.

Jordan’s Enchanted Village: Now until January 1, 2017 at Jordan’s Furniture in Avon. Last chance! Head to Jordan’s Enchanted Village in Avon to relive childhood memories and check out this wonderful holiday display!

Harvard Art Museums: Massachusetts residents are admitted free every Saturday morning from 10am to Noon year-round with proof of residency
